JLT Chef’s Showcase
An exciting new culinary event on Toronto’s foodie calendar, The JLT’s Chef’s Showcase was a sell out success in its inaugural year! The event, that took it’s first steps in 2018 is planned again for May 2, 2019. It features the opportunity to eat, drink, mingle and support the work of the Junior League of Toronto and the Junior League of Toronto Culinary Scholarship*, in cooperation with the George Brown Foundation!
Celebrity chef Christine Cushing, who hosted the event last year, will be returning for this year’s event along with co-host Michael Fagan, one of Canada’s most renowned experts in wine!
This year, our event will celebrate women in food and wine and showcase chefs, food purveyors and wine experts who support and celebrate women who are making a significant impact in today’s food industry.
This annual event will raise funds for JLT’s community work, and, in particular, its partnership with the George Brown Foundation, and The Junior League of Toronto Culinary Scholarship.
This year our goal is to sponsor 10 female graduates from the Assistant Cook Extended Training (ACET) program, to provide them with the necessary tools and supplies needed as they prepare to take their first steps towards a successful career in the food industry.
About the Co-hosts:
Christine Cushing has been a trailblazer on the Food Network and a part of the Canadian food scene for 20 years with “Christine Cushing Live” and her reality show “Fearless in the Kitchen” on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She is currently the resident chef on the Marilyn Denis Show and CSA nominated star of “Confucius was a Foodie” documentary series popular in over 95 countries world-wide and currently airing on PBS in North America.
Michael Fagan, known as “The Matchmaker” is a former columnist with the LCBO’s Food & Drink magazine. Featured on the “Discover” series (the LCBO’s Award-Winning product knowledge video series available for on-line viewing as a free podcast through iTunes and YouTube), Michael’s 30-plus years in the industry is backed by respected credentials such as the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Advanced Certificate and membership in the Association Internationale des Maîtres Conseils en Gastronomie Française. Michael and Christine have worked together on TV on both “Christine Cushing Live” (Food Network Canada) and currently on “Confucius was a Foodie” (PBS stations).
