Why Do We Issue Community Grants – Benefits for the JLT

A volunteer reviews the grants received and presents them to the Community & Outreach Committee each year for approval.  This training provides JLT members with the grant application, assessment process, and presentation skills.

It also highlights registered charities and community issues to JLT that we might want to collaborate with in the future or charities where our members might be inspired to sit on their Board.  We also regularly collaborate with other registered charities for Community Impact Events (typically an event where another charity needs assistance for a day to help with a specific task – but not fundraising).   Many of those community partners have applied for a grant in the past.

Our grants are critical to meeting our mission of advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

Our total annual grants are typically a small portion of our community budget. It is more about non-profit leadership training for our members.
